My Apology ( loosely based on William Carlos Williams poem)

Why do I write today?

The beauty of

the terrible faces

of our nonentities

stirs me to it:

 creatures of the earth,

of land and sea —

food and fodder —

living and loving

in our wake.

 Skin, fin and feathers

plundered and pummeled like

ransacked cathedrals.

Also

the silent chess master who

begat our morality

speaks to me —

 black and white

wrong and right

winner and loser

predator

 and pray —

but the world isn’t flat and

life is more

than 32 pieces herded

toward checkmate

 knees bent  —

heads bowed  —

 before a

captive bolt gun.

  1. Interesting. Man in the state of nature had been given power. As power creates all rights, man in natural state had each rights, thus each has a claim to equality. If a man does not exercise his natural power, he loses his rights and thus equality. The Grad chestmaster created the game, which each person my elect or not to play. (Derived from Spinoza, On the political and theological.)
God has rights, but no duties.
The slave has duties, but no rights.
The citizen has rights and duties (Kant on Ethics)
